About: Commitment to Service

“The ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve”
~ Albert Schweitzer

Kathy BalesHello and a warm welcome to you! I’m Kathy Bales, and I’m dedicated to guiding entrepreneurs on the exhilarating journey of personal and professional growth. My commitment to service means empowering you to unlock your fullest potential, turning your entrepreneurial dreams into reality.

A Commitment to Service

My vision centers on the powerful principle that true success comes from a deep desire to serve. Inspired by the wisdom of Albert Schweitzer’s quote above, I believe that the heart of every thriving business lies in its ability to meet the needs of others. This philosophy of service has not only been the cornerstone of my own journey, but also is the guiding light for entrepreneurs I work with. Together, we explore how our businesses can make a meaningful impact, creating a fusion of passion, purpose, and prosperity. My own journey into the world of entrepreneurship has been fueled by a passion for discovery, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

Imagine a path where your unique talents meet the needs of the world, where your business not only thrives but also reflects your deepest values and desires. That’s the journey I’m here to guide you on. It’s about more than just financial success; it’s about creating a business that resonates with who you are at your core. One that you’re excited to get to every morning and one that is so aligned with your true self that your customers love working with you.

A Commitment to Excellence

My story is one of resilience, creativity, and the power of persistence. With degrees from the University of North Texas in Secondary Education and DeVry University in Telecommunications Management, my academic foundation laid the groundwork for a diverse career. I ventured into the digital marketing realm with the establishment of Techkat Online Marketing, becoming an authority in web design, marketing, e-commerce, and SEO. I even pioneered the first video ebook. My drive to innovate led me to co-found The Webinar Pros, and Web Business Basics 101, to develop other digital courses, and become an author and public speaker.

But even before my journey into geekdom (before Al Gore created the internet), I built several successful offline businesses, including a small interior design company (as a side hustle), a petroleum land services company and a cleaning and restoration business.

Yet, my life journey has been filled with twists and turns (probably like yours). I faced the challenge of adapting to rapid technological changes and personal health battles. However, these obstacles only strengthened my resolve and deepened my understanding of what it truly means to persevere.

On the Personal Side

On a personal note, my life is a tapestry of commitments and passions; from adopting my three children (all at once) in a whirlwind of love and chaos, to the years spent as a caregiver for my parents, and overcoming breast cancer not once, but twice. These experiences have taught me the value of resilience, gratitude, and the beauty of life’s simplest moments. They also demonstrate my ability to commit to the welfare of another person and see that commitment through to the end.

My passions extend beyond the world of digital marketing. I am captivated by art, history, and the thrill of travel. My ideal escape involves immersing myself in diverse cultures around the world, where I can explore the unique blend of creativity and heritage. In addition, I serve as a docent at The Old Jail Art Center in Albany, Texas and as Chairperson of our County Historical Commission. I’m also a member of our local chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international organization that promotes education, literacy and community service, and of the local Chamber of Commerce.

An Important Lesson Learned

My entrepreneurial journey is not one I walk alone. It took me a long time to learn that lesson. No man (or woman) is an island and you cannot build a successful business by yourself. It truly “takes a village”, to borrow a phrase. This is one of the fallacies, or difficulties, of the solopreneur journey. You start your business by yourself and it is easy to assume that you must do everything, and figure out everything, by yourself. This is a path to s-l-o-w growth, discouragement and often quitting on your dream.

The day I started to seek out and interact with other online business people, especially my mentors, my own business started to change dramatically. I have found a world of support and partnerships from those exchanges.
