Welcome to Day 1 of the Abundance Mindset Challenge!
Here’s what to expect:
Each day you’ll receive an email with a daily action to take that will help you appreciate the abundance that already exists in your life and prepare you to receive even more. You’ll love what you discover!
I’ll be sharing my thoughts and some stories with you as well. So let’s get this party rolling!
I encourage you to do three things:
- Keep a notebook or journal with your thoughts and discoveries for you own use.
Challenge yourself to begin journaling about what makes you feel grateful. Take a few minutes each day to engage with your journal by writing down a few things that you were grateful for that day. Doing this will help you understand how much you have in your life. You will likely realize that you are truly living in abundance. If you don’t have a journal or you’d like one dedicated to this challenge, I’ve prepared one for you. Check it out here. - Share your ideas and feedback in the Comments Section below. It’s a dedicated space to share your insights and discoveries or ask questions.
- Respond to the comments of others — mine included. I believe it will be helpful to us all to engage in a real conversation here. In that light, please be respectful, positive and encouraging in your comments. We are here for abundance, after all.
Today’s Challenge:
Practice gratitude daily by acknowledging and appreciating the abundance already present in your life.
Taking time to acknowledge everything great you already have in life is one of the best ways to realize how much abundance already exists all around you. Challenge yourself to make a list of everything you have to feel grateful for.
My Comments: I don’t know whether you’ve ever done an exercise like this, to write down, or at least think about everything you have to be grateful for in your life. Once you get started, it’s hard to stop! My list gets really long, really fast. So break out that journal or notebook and start writing. You’ll be amazed at how many wonderful things are already present. I challenge you to list at least 50 things you are grateful for. I know you can do it!
Keep in mind that abundance encompasses more than just money or things. It includes health, relationships, your abilities and resources… so much more!
Suggested Actions:
1. Start a Gratitude Journal: Each day, write down three more things you’re grateful for. This simple habit can transform your perspective over time.
2. Express Gratitude to Others: Take a moment to thank someone in your life, whether through a note, a call, or a simple “thank you.”
3. Reflect on Positive Moments: At the end of each day, spend a few minutes reflecting on the positive moments you experienced.
Extra Credit:
Surround yourself with positive and like-minded individuals who also embrace an abundance mindset.
Do you have any negative naysayers in your life? If so, challenge yourself to spend more time around positive folks today instead of your negative friends. This means forgoing gossip and whining–hang out with your positive-minded friends instead for a boost of abundant feelings in your day.
My Comments: The late Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” This places a strong emphasis on spending time with people who are experiencing what we want to experience and achieving what we want to achieve. Seek out those people in your life. Invite them to lunch or coffee, even if it’s a “virtual coffee”. (If you’ve never had one of those, you definitely should start. It’s a great way to expand your network!) Spending time with those who are living in abundance will surely help you up your game. Finding these folks, if you don’t already have them in your life, may involve joining a networking or mastermind group in your field. Don’t hesitate to do that, and don’t just join, get involved! You never know when someone you meet there may become your next joint venture partner or refer a client to you.
Suggested Actions:
1. Identify Positive Influences: Make a list of people in your life who inspire and support you. Plan to spend more time with them.
2. Join a Community: Find a group or community that focuses on personal growth and abundance, whether online or in person.
3. Limit Negative Interactions: Recognize those who drain your energy and try to limit your interactions with them.
In the Comments below, let us know what made it onto your Gratitude List, what you did in the Extra Credit section and your thoughts about today’s challenge. Can’t wait to hear from you!
Here’s a small part of my “Gratitude List”: My home, living in a small town, my cats (who are great companions), my health, my brother and sister, my children and grandchildren, my car, my ability to create, my love of art (because it brings me into contact with other creative and wonderful people), the ability to travel, the deer and other wild creatures who populate my outdoor world, my parents (who are gone now) and the family of faith I grew up in.
As for other like-minded people, this is something I’ve been consciously working on the past few years. I’ve become more active in online communities and made friends, who are also building businesses, as well as making personal contact with some of the business leaders I’ve been following for years. I’ve been truly gratified to find how accessible and generous they are when for so long I had them on a pedestal, intimidated to reach out.
[…] I hope Day 1 had some revelations for you. If so, be sure to record them in your journal/notebook and share something with us in the Comments section of yesterday’s post. […]
It was good to remind myself of all I have to be thankful for.
I like the reflection on positive moments. I think I will add that to my daily quiet time.
Practicing gratitude and acknowledging what’s really important is transformational, in all aspects of our lives. Like attracts like, so keeping a positive outlook only attracts more positivity 🙂
Exactly! As we focus on gratitude we raise our awareness of the good surrounding us. The more attuned we become to the positive, the more positive we feel, which just attracts more positivity. It’s like an abundance feedback loop.
